Supporter, Member, Donor Categories.
1. Ganong Nature Park - $350,000 target
- A recent grant for $1.288 million from Atlantic Canada
Opportunities Agency will see the construction of a major community
Learning Centre at the Park. The building will include meeting and
service space, offices, a teaching/research laboratory, and a public
display area that will include exhibits on history, nature, alternate
energy, sewage management, and more. SCEP must raise $260,000 to match
the ACOA grant. More at www.ganongpark.org.
2. Camp Waweig - $200,000 target
- This 85 year-old community camp was recently gifted to SCEP. Now the
real work begins. We estimate a need for $140,000 to renovate and
operate this important facility. More at www.campwaweig.com.
3. Quoddy Learning Lab - $150,000 target -
SCEP needs additional funds to stabilize facilities and staffing for
this facility which will be located at the Ganong Nature Park. Some
programs will include:
- Developing and
Eco-Economy - An
initiative to foster the development of sustainable buisiness in the
area.
- Community
Outreach.
Educational
lectures and talks to inform citizens, politicians, visitors, and
others about the high value of the Greater Quoddy Region. (Over 40 of
these talks were given around the Bay last year) and community
programs".
- St.
Stephen Waterfront
Cleanup.
SCEP continues to work with the Town of St. Stephen on this issue.
Several serious pollution sources have been cleaned up to date and we
anticipate additional action over the next year.
- The Dennis
Stream
Environmental Management
Plan - Completed and monitoring
will continue.
- Head
Harbour Passage
Research. Working towards the
establishment of a Marine Protected Area in this important and vital
area.

Donor
and Partner Recognition
The
proposed donor/supporter wall is shown below. It will be located at
the entrance, along the north wall of the Learning Centre building at
the Ganong Nature & Marine Park.
The
elements represent the white pine which was the dominant local
resource that shaped the area, the moon which dominates the huge
tidal cycles of the Bay and a blue background representing sky and
water.
Principal
donors will be represented by a brass plaque mounted on “rocks”
that will be mounted along the bottom of the tree. Other donors will
be represented by leaves of various size located on separate
“category” trees depending on the level of the contribution.
Please contact us for more information.
